My son has an obsession about clothes hangers (go here to read about Autism & special interests). Other children tend to push him away and even adults become uncomfortable, as heart-breaking as it is, when Riley tells them about his most prized possessions.
Yesterday, Riley sat next to the fence at our horse stables. My Clydesdale 'Tenacity' walked over to him, lowered her head, and let Riley tell her ALL ABOUT his hangers.
I broke down crying. It was the most beautiful, amazing moment; a moment of complete peace, respect, mutual understanding, and healing.
